prints, photographs, sculptures, performance arts, installations and new media arts, crafted and
               presented by the participating native and foreign artists, who channelled their contemporary
               thoughts through these artworks. The opening ceremony also announces three grand awards
               and six honourable mention prizes.
               The 19th edition of the Asian Art Biennale has been dedicated to the Father of the Nation
               Bangabandhu  Sheikh  Mujibur  Rahman,  who  envisioned  and  established  Bangladesh
               Shilpakala Academy in 1974.

               The 19th edition of Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2022 also features a two-day international
               seminar titled ‘Home and Displacement’ with the participation of local and foreign artists, art
               critics, an international jury and observers. In addition to the main exhibition at the National Art
               Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangladesh National Museum, and the Faculty of
               Fine Art, University of Dhaka display several finest artworks of Bangladeshi legendary master
               artists from their collection as a part of the Biennale.
               We had to postpone the Biennale several times. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had
               to change the schedule for this Biennale more than three times. We are delighted to host
               this grand festivity of art finally. Aside from diverse arts exposition, Bangladesh Shilpakala
               Academy  simultaneously  organises  distinctive  art  programmes  and  projects,  including  an
               international art camp at the mausoleum premises of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
               Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, vibrant cultural programmes, a river cruise and more.

               The Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the
               People’s Republic of Bangladesh have made all our gigantic tasks much easier. My heartfelt
               gratitude and thanks to all directly and indirectly associated with the grand arrangement of the
               19th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2022. My heartiest congratulations to all the participating
               artists, who have made the Biennale a grand success with their vivacious presence and
               shimmering display of artwork. We hope to take the upcoming editions of Asian Art Biennale
               Bangladesh to an even greater height so that the Biennale can boast of one of the most
               influential art biennales in the world.
